Press Release

The gallery Jérôme Pauchant is delighted to present Quentin Euverte's (b. 1991, France) first solo exhibition in France entitled "Mobilier des vallées de l'Himalaya" (Furniture from Himalaya's valleys), featuring Matt Jones (b. 1980, USA), from October 15 to December 17, 2016.

Quentin Euverte extracts ordinary elements for those who pay attention. In terms of raw materials waste does not exist. Euverte builds scenes that drive towards fiction. The exhibition at the gallery presents frozen-over crime scenes or tampered realities which suggest a new relationship to the world and its future: counterfeiter's ruin. The gallery becomes a no-place, between a furniture warehouse and a pawnshop of archived urbanities.

Matt Jones featuring offers a collapsed temporality. The paintings collaborate with one another, reformatting their cumulative materials into stacks and networks, a crucial mode of making within the larger spectrum of Jones practice. Throughout the duration ofthe exhibition, paintings will move, shifting the fabric of the space through the non-artistic labor of unpacking and re-packing paintings. Jones intervention exists as a temporal vibration in Euverte's solo presentation.
